Military action springs hope for Syrian Kurd refugees

Syrian Kurd population hopes that the Operation Peace Spring launched by Turkey on Wednesday, will also help them to return to their homes.

The military campaign was launched against the PKK/YPG and Daesh terrorists east of the Euphrates River in northern Syria, to secure borders and to ensure the safe return of Syrian refugees.

Syrian Kurds, who also had to leave their homes, due to the violence perpetuated by the terrorist organization, are seeking to return to their homes, once the safe zone is established after the successful completion of military operation.

Abdulaziz Temmo, head of Syria’s Independent Kurdish Association, told Anadolu Agency that YPG/PKK persecuted everyone in the region, without distinguishing between Kurd, Arab, Christian and Turkmen people.

“Operation Peace Spring will clean up the region from terror and pave the way for the establishment of a safe zone. Syrians living in various places in Turkey will return to the region,” he said.

Meanwhile, Turkey’s Operation Peace Spring is going ahead in the region. Turkey has said the terrorist group PKK and its extension the YPG/PYD constitute the gravest threat to Syria’s future, jeopardizing the country’s territorial integrity and unitary structure.

In its more than 30-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- has been responsible for the deaths of some 40,000 people, including women, children, and infants. The terrorist YPG/PYD is its Syrian branch.
