Hull City condemns racist abuse targeting new signing Robinio Vaz
Newly promoted Premier League club working with police and relevant authorities to identify accounts responsible
Hull City condemned on Thursday what it described as "abhorrent" racist abuse directed at new signing Robinio Vaz on social media.
The 19-year-old French striker joined Hull from Italian Serie A club Roma on a season-long loan on transfer deadline day, with an option to make the move permanent.
"No individual should ever experience discriminatory abuse, and the club will provide Robinio with our full support," Hull said in a statement.
The newly promoted Premier League club said it had contacted the league, anti-discrimination charity Kick It Out and the relevant social media companies over the previous 24 hours.
Hull added that it was working with Humberside Police and other authorities to identify the accounts responsible so that appropriate action could be taken.
" Hull City has a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of discrimination," the club said.
"We stand with Robinio and encourage all supporters to continue to report any form of discrimination."
