International Conference on Islamophobia
On March 15 and 16, 2023, marking the first anniversary of the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, Baku International Multiculturalism Centre (BIMC), the Center for the Analysis of International Relations (AIR Center), and G20 Interfaith Forum are to host an international conference on "Islamophobia as a Specific Form of Racism and Discrimination: New Global and Transnational Challenges".
According to the press offices of BIMC and AIR Center, the main priority of the conference is to provide an academic platform to discuss the alarming trends targeting Muslims and Muslim communities on a national and global scales. Outstanding scholars from thirty two countries, experts from international organizations, religious figures, and representatives of non- governmental organizations attending the conference are expected to discuss various approaches to combating Islamophobia, manifestations of Islamophobia in some European countries, and Islamophobia in the global media.
For the first time, March 15 was named the Day to Combat Islamophobia at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on November 27-28, 2020, in Niamey, Republic of Niger. In 2022, the United Nations General Assembly designated March 15 as the International Day to Combat Islamophobia.
