Turkish defense firm Aselsan unveils expanded munition range for Akinci drone
3 variants offer fragmentation and penetration capabilities using impact, proximity and programmable time fuzes
Turkish defense firm Aselsan on Wednesday unveiled an expanded range of precision-guided munitions for use with Baykar’s Akinci unmanned combat drone.
The company said the Tolun “deep-strike munition family” can deliver precision strikes under all operational conditions, highlighting three variants equipped for different target types and missions.
The Tolun I combines an impact fuze with a fragmentation warhead, while the Tolun F is fitted with a proximity sensor and fragmentation warhead.
The Tolun P, meanwhile, features a programmable time fuze and a penetration warhead designed for hardened targets.
“Whenever, wherever, however we want,” Aselsan said in a social media post showcasing the three munitions integrated with the Akinci.
Aselsan CEO Ahmet Akyol said the cooperation between the two Turkish defense companies would provide precision strike capabilities and a high destructive effect on the battlefield.
“The Tolun family continues to offer superior precision and high impact under all conditions with its diversifying capabilities,” Akyol said.
“With the multiplier effect of serial production, these capabilities will continue to be game-changing in the skies,” he added.
Developed by Baykar, the Akinci can carry a wide range of domestically produced air-to-ground and air-to-air munitions, allowing it to perform strategic strike and other combat missions.
