Saudi Arabia lifts emergency warning in southern city of Abha
Authorities announce danger had passed, urge residents to continue following Civil Defense safety instructions
Saudi Arabia lifted an emergency warning Tuesday in the southern city of Abha after authorities announced that the danger had passed.
The country’s National Early Warning Platform had earlier issued an alert warning residents of potential danger and urging them to follow safety instructions.
The initial warning did not specify the nature of the threat or provide further details.
In a subsequent alert, authorities confirmed that the danger had passed in Abha but urged residents to continue following Civil Defense instructions and strictly avoid gatherings and filming.
Residents were also advised to contact emergency services if necessary.
Earlier Tuesday, Saudi authorities issued a similar emergency warning in the southern city of Najran before later announcing that the danger had passed.
The alerts came amid escalating hostilities between Yemen’s Houthi group and the Saudi-led coalition, with Saudi Arabia facing repeated missile and drone threats in recent weeks.
