Israeli forces demolish 2 homes, strike southern Lebanon in latest ceasefire breach
Lebanese media report incursions; Israeli army claims Hezbollah infrastructure targeted
Israeli forces demolished two homes and carried out an airstrike in southern Lebanon early Thursday, in another violation of the late 2024 ceasefire agreement.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency (NNA) reported that Israeli troops advanced into the southern outskirts of the town of Yaroun in the Bint Jbeil district, where they rigged a residential building with explosives and detonated it, destroying it completely.
In a separate incident, Israeli forces blew up another home in the Wadi al-Asafir area of the town of Khiam in the Marjayoun district, the agency said.
Earlier, Israeli warplanes launched a strike on the town of Tebna in the Sidon district, according to the NNA.
No immediate information was available regarding casualties.
The Israeli army claimed the operations targeted Hezbollah infrastructure, including weapons storage sites, rocket-launching positions and facilities it alleged were used to plan attacks against Israel.
The attacks came amid repeated Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement reached in November 2024, killing and wounding hundreds of Lebanese. Israel continues to occupy five Lebanese hilltops seized during the latest war, in addition to other Lebanese areas it has held for decades.
Israel began military operations against Lebanon in October 2023 against the backdrop of the Gaza war and escalated them into a full-scale war in September 2024, killing more than 4,000 people and wounding about 17,000 others.
